This is the website of Kanishk Paul. I work on neurosymbolic AI, world models, and Indic language models. Almost everything in AI is downstream of one paper from 2017; nobody went back to check whether that was the right place to start. I don't think it's close, so I build somewhere else.

Method: every project runs against pass/fail gates set before the experiment. Negative results are published with the rest; numbers are never quoted without the conditions they were measured under.

Research

Register obstruction. What machine translation does to honorific register in Bengali and Hindi (আপনি / তুমি / তুই, आप / तुम / तू), and why.1

World models for ARC-AGI-3. A documented lineage of bets on learning a game's rules from play: TCCA, iwm, a category-theory world model, Virgil, and now Mechanic Composition Worlds, a paper in prep.2

ButterflyGate. An O(n log n) structured token mixer that replaces self-attention in a pretrained model's early layers.3

ResonatorLM, audited. A from-scratch replication of arXiv:2607.05583. It turns out to be a diagonal complex state-space model, and Eq. 4 has a phase-sign error.4
